Schools & Business Committee:

The Schools & Business Committee focuses on the relationship between education and the business community. The goal of the Chamber Champions is to facilitate contact with existing Chamber members and work to identify new members through their contact efforts. This committee participates in Grand Openings, Ribbon Cuttings and First Dollar presentations. The Champions visit with new members to welcome them to the Chamber membership and orient them to the member benefits.

The Government Relations Committee reviews proposed Legislation and recommends action to be taken on behalf of our members. Annually the members of the Government Relations committee prepare “position papers,” outlining the Chamber’s stance on key legislative issues. The Committee maintains strong relationships with our local elected officials. Other events coordinated by the committee include MOV Chamber Day at the Capital when members go to Charleston and spend the day with our legislative contingent and hosting a Mayor’s Forum to hear issues and successes from our municipalities.
