This Week’s Featured Chamber Member
This week, we would like to highlight a new member of our Chamber whom we had the pleasure of interviewing recently. It is our pleasure to introduce, ASTRIVE, LLC, a non-profit organization focused on providing advocacy, support, training, and resources to individuals and families with disabilities. Astrive, LLC is in Belleville, West Virginia. We spoke with Christina Smith, owner, to get to know her business and share with fellow Chamber members. See below for her Q&A!
Tell us a little about ASTRIVE, LLC.
“ASTRIVE is committed to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families by focusing on the areas of Special Education, Inclusion in Volunteer, Recreation, Civic, and Faith-Based Activities, Home and Community Based Services, Integrated Employment, and Health, Safety & Preparedness Initiatives. This is accomplished by providing advocacy, support, training, and resources to ensure individuals with disabilities are Included. Valued. Empowered.”
What got you interested in this field of work?
“West Virginia leads the country in the percentage of people with disabilities. This became a personal issue when our youngest child was born with Down syndrome 18 years ago and we had to learn to navigate the system through multiple health issues and developmental delays. Having worked in non-profit management since her birth, the decision to personally start an agency that was founded on the need for strong advocacy when assisting families and individuals who are seeking support and services, resulted in an exciting transition to becoming a business owner.”
Who is your ideal customer?
“Our ideal customers are individuals with disabilities, families, business owners, service provider agencies, community members or anyone who may need training or information on issues relating to the above-mentioned topics.”
How long have you been in the Mid-Ohio Valley?
“Consultative work began in April 2019, with ASTRIVE, LLC officially becoming a business in August 2019.”
Is there any exciting news you would like to share with your fellow MOV Chamber members and community?
“Astrive Advocacy, Inc., has now been established as a separate non-profit organization and is awaiting its 501( c )3 designation. ”
Why did you decide to get involved with the MOV Chamber?
“I had the privilege to previously serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber, as well as being an event volunteer for many years and have seen first-hand, the value of aligning my business with the organization for networking opportunities, professional development, and business promotion.”
Thank you, ASTRIVE, LLC for your membership with us! We are looking forward to doing business with you and are glad to be partners!
