Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley

Committees

Schools & Business Committee:

The Schools & Business Committee focuses on the relationship between education and the business community. They work closely with our local education system to provide opportunities to highlight students, educators and Chamber members through various programming and communications. This committee oversees the Partner in Education program, annual Partner in Education luncheon, the High School Business Symposium and annual new teacher recognition.

Meeting Date/Location: 1st Wednesday of each month (no meetings during summer break) @ 12:00 noon @ local schools

Chamber Champions Committee:

The Chamber Champions are Ambassadors that serve as representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio alley. The goal of the Chamber Champions is to facilitate contact with existing Chamber members and work to identify new members through their contact efforts. This committee participates in Grand Openings, Ribbon Cuttings and First Dollar presentations. The Champions visit with new members to welcome them to the Chamber membership and orient them to the member benefits.

Meeting Date/Location:  2nd Wednesday of each month @ 12:00 noon @ various locations, followed by member visits

Government Relations Committee:

The Government Relations Committee reviews proposed Legislation and recommends action to be taken on behalf of our members. Annually the members of the Government Relations committee prepare “position papers,” outlining the Chamber’s stance on key legislative issues. The Committee maintains strong relationships with our local elected officials. Other events coordinated by the committee include MOV Chamber Day at the Capital when members go to Charleston and spend the day with our legislative contingent and hosting a Mayor’s Forum to hear issues and successes from our municipalities.

Meeting Date/Location: 3rd Wednesday of every other month @ 12:00pm @ WV Central Credit Union, 809 Division Street, Parkersburg

Special Events Committee and AD HOC SUBGROUPS:

The Special Events Committee members possess interest and skill in event planning and fundraising while marketing and networking with a variety of businesses. In 2017 the Special Events Committee (and respective ad hoc committees) will oversee at least three quarterly events for the Chamber: the Women in Leadership luncheon, the Challenge Cup, and the Chamber Annual Dinner/Awards Banquet.
